The Model

Beyond MBTI — five dimensions.

SBTI builds on the classic four MBTI dimensions (E/I, S/N, T/F, J/P) and adds a transformative fifth dimension: Stress vs. Calm. This reveals how you respond under pressure, creating 32 distinct personality types instead of the standard 16.

Your Result

Your 32-type profile is ready.

After 45 questions, you'll discover which of the 32 SBTI types best represents you, with a radar chart showing your scores across all five dimensions and a detailed description of your type.

What people say

Test takers love the fifth dimension.

Alex INTJ-Stress

The Stress/Calm dimension is genius. I've always known I was INTJ, but seeing the Stress subtype explained so much about how I react under pressure.

Jordan ENFP-Calm

I never understood why some descriptions of my type didn't fit — now I know I'm the Calm subtype. The radar chart visualization is beautiful and clear.

Sam ISTJ-Calm

Going from 16 to 32 types is a game-changer. My wife and I have the same MBTI but different SBTI subtypes, and it explains so much about our differences.

Morgan ENTJ-Stress

The fifth dimension made me realize things about my stress responses I never noticed before. Highly recommend for anyone who wants deeper self-understanding.

What's your 32-type personality?

SBTI (Stress-Based Typology Indicator) expands on traditional MBTI by adding a crucial fifth dimension: Stress vs. Calm. Answer 45 questions across 5 dimensions — Extraversion/Introversion, Sensing/Intuition, Thinking/Feeling, Judging/Perceiving, and Stress/Calm — to discover which of 32 unique types truly fits you.

How the test works

You'll answer 45 questions, 9 per dimension, each with two options. Your scores on the four primary MBTI dimensions determine your 4-letter type, while the Stress/Calm fifth dimension determines your subtype — creating 32 possible personality types instead of the standard 16.

What your result means

Your result shows your 4-letter MBTI type (e.g., INTJ, ENFP) plus your Stress or Calm subtype. You'll see a radar chart displaying your scores across all five dimensions, a detailed description of your type, and your key strengths and weaknesses.

The fifth dimension

The Stress/Calm dimension is what sets SBTI apart from standard MBTI. It measures how you respond under pressure — whether you tend toward heightened stress responses or maintain calm composure. This creates two subtypes for each of the 16 MBTI types, giving you a more nuanced and complete personality profile.

Is SBTI a scientifically validated assessment?

SBTI is an experimental personality framework designed for entertainment and self-reflection. It builds on the well-known MBTI dimensions but adds a novel fifth dimension. It is not a clinically validated psychological instrument.

How is SBTI different from MBTI?

Standard MBTI has 16 personality types based on 4 dimensions. SBTI adds a fifth dimension — Stress vs. Calm — that doubles the number of types to 32. This gives you more nuance about how your personality expresses itself, especially under pressure.

Can I retake the test?

Yes. You can retake the test as many times as you like. Your previous result will be saved locally so you can view it later or compare with a new result.

How are the scores calculated?

Each of the 45 questions has two options with different score values. The 9 questions per dimension are summed and normalized to a -100 to +100 scale. Your four MBTI letters are determined by the sign of each dimension score, and your subtype (Stress or Calm) is determined by the sign of the fifth dimension.

How does the scoring work?

Each of the 45 questions measures one of the 5 dimensions. Each dimension has 9 questions. Your answers are scored and normalized to a -100 to +100 scale. The four primary MBTI dimensions determine your 4-letter type code. The fifth dimension (Stress vs. Calm) determines your subtype, creating 32 possible types.
